RoboFest 2010, a robotic competition organized by the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering at SLIIT, saw 31 teams battling it out to produce the most technologically advanced creations to bag prizes awarded by sponsor OREL Solutions, local distributor for FARNELL, UK.
The winning team, Barthurst who designed the robot "Interceptor" received the Gold Medal and the Cheque for Rs 50,000. 1st Runner up was team, Avengers who designed the robot “Harukoa”and second runner up was the team Gladiators who designed the robot “Eureka” . The winners received awards at the award ceremony held at the Auditorium of SLIIT Malabe campus on 15th September 2010 from Mr Kamil Hussain - CEO of Orange Electric.
RoboFest 2010, was initiated to expose the creative talents of SLIIT's student community. The competetion is an ideal platform to promote the application of problem-solving skills and skills gathered from modules taught at SLIIT such as Embedded Systems Design, Embedded Systems Engineering and Microprocessor-based Systems, Digital and Analog Electronics, Control Systems, Robotics and Software Engineering.
RoboFest 2010, was an ideal groundwork for building teamwork and communication skills among participants. Students received the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills acquired at SLIIT in a practical manner.
