SLIIT emerged winners at University of Moratuwa International Shuttlers Fest

University of Moratuwa International Shuttler's Fest (UMiSF) 2012 organised by the University of Moratuwa was concluded on Wednesday, 7th of March 2012. The final matches of inter university categories were played on this day and there were some brilliant performances by the university players. In the inter university tournament, the “SLIIT shuttlers” showed their abilities by dominating in almost every category and finally emerging as overall champions. The Results of the Inter University Tournament is as follows Individual Events Men’s Singles Winner: Omesh Fernando (SLIIT) Mens’ Doubles 1st Runner-Up: Mezaj Fernando and Thuwan Cassim (SLIIT) Women’s Doubles Winner: Gayani Perera and Uvini Senanayake (SLIIT) Mixed Doubles Winner: PubuduTennakoon and Umalka Perera (SLIIT)
This was the main event of the tournament where a team comprising of 8 Members played in league basis. In the Men’s category, SLIIT dominated the tournament by winning the finals convincingly by 3/1 against University of Moratuwa. The Women’s finals saw a similar outcome as SLIIT were comfortable winners against University of Kelaniya by 3/1.
