THE PROGRAMME

This program provides comprehensive training needed to become a Linux Systems Administrator. It covers Introduction to Linux Environment ,Installation of Linux, Unix/Linux commands ,Advanced  Shell  Usage, System tuning ,PROC file system, work with Linux Kernel, TCP/IP Networking ,DNS, Firewall, Routing,  NAT and  Mail Server Configurations, other system services and How to implement Security in Linux Systems.

- Installing Debian

Day 2- GNU/Linux environment-I
- UNIX commands
- UNIX/Linux Directory structure
- Using the BASH shell
- VI editor
- UNIX tools and filters
- Basic system administration
- X-Window system

Day 3- GNU/Linux environment-II
- Customizing X-Window system
- Managing and installing software packages
- Advanced shell usage
- System tuning and using PROC file system
- Discussion, review and practical session

Day 4-The Linux kernel
- Introduction to Linux kernel
- Configuring and compiling the kernel
- Advanced shell scripting

Day 5- TCP/IP networking
- Introduction to networking
- TCP/IP networking
- Setting up and testing basic TCP/IP
- Routing
- Setting up an Apache web server
- Enhancing, tuning and customizing Apache

Day 6- DNS ,Firewall,Routing & NAT
- Setting up a DNS server
- Setting up a firewall
- Setting up a router, NAT
- Setting up a web proxy server
- Discussion, review and practical session

Day 7-Mail,Samaba Server & other services
- Setting up a mail server - sendmail
- Setting up a mail server - exim
- Setting up a Samba server
- Setting up other services (SSH, FTP, Time, Telnet etc)
- Securing a GNU/Linux installation
- Setting up Spamassassin and Antivirus

Day 8- Security and maintenance, FOSS etiquette and culture
- File sharing with NFS
- TCP/IP over Parallel and serial line
- Dial-up networking
- System maintenance
- FOSS etiquette and culture
- Discussion, review and practical session
